Hofvijver walk

What once started as a castle on a dune lake, grew into the center of power on the Hofvijver. Now that the Binnenhof is being renovated, we take the students for a walk along this Hofvijver. Why did Johan van Oldenbarnevelt get a statue here? And what exactly does the Senate do? During this walk, the students discover everything about the history of the Binnenhof using photos of the Binnenhof and statues and buildings around the Hofvijver.

The Hague Chic

The Hague is also called 'the city of sand and peat': rich people lived on the sand, poor people on the peat. During this tour, the students visit typical places of the “Haagse Chic”, such as the Kneuterdijk Palace. These places not only tell the story of the very wealthy citizens of The Hague who lived and worked here. It was not uncommon for these residents of The Hague to become so wealthy through shares in slavery. And many poor people worked for the Haagse Sjiek. Their stories are also told during this tour.
